Starting up a new media enterprise is pretty straightforward; keeping it up is much more complex. And that’s the key challenge the MADE project is tackling.
Through a variety of training, mentoring, and networking activities, we're looking to work with smart,creative individuals and teams who want to make and share news in the public interest whether for civic, educational or commercial gain (or all three). We're planning to share what we learn through a series of reports and presentations.
Initiated by François Nel at the pioneering School of Journalism, Media and Communication at the University of Central Lancashire, the MADE partner network includes software developers at ScraperWiki, trainers at TalkAboutLocal and the business incubation support team at Northern Lights. And network is growing all the time.
